Date: April 8, 2026 via email

I am a Vietnam Vet and served at Tuy Hoa AB, Vietnam, fro Dec '66 to Dec '67.

Was assigned to the 31st CSG Personnel Office (73250) and worked in Airman and Officer Records.   Would love to attend, however, at age 85, I am going through some medical and physical problems. Doubt I would be able to even travel by then.

Wishing you the best and hope a lot of Tuy Hoa Vets are able to attend.  Wishing you the best and a Happy reunion.

Comments:

My time at Tuy Hoa was 1970-71 shortly after the USAF departed and the 268th Combat Aviation Bn (CAB),USA occupied the base.  We had a company of Mohawks but primarily it became a rotary wing site. The amenities and living conditions are well remembered and appreciated. But 1967 Phuoc Vinh, the 162nd Assault Helicopter Co. (AHC) shared with the 1st INF Div in the tents with sandbagged half walls living qtrs. (and mess halls), and the laterite runway are fond memories.  Along with other diversions the occasional USAF C123 would land with wheels locked and slide to the end of the runway.  And take off was always impressive.

Comments: No hostile rounds during the first year. Had to extend to see any "war". That was enough.   I have been attending the Tuy Hoa reunion for the last 25 years, haven't missed any. If you haven't been to a reunion yet, you are missing a good opportunity to connect with a great bunch of veterans, and visit places where you might not go otherwise.

I am not sure if he could make it to the Vegas reunion but if he could, maybe we could find some money thru donations and the like to get him there. Any thoughts?

Replies: Ken Campbell (7 yrs ago) - Would like to hear from you. Please use my email to contact me. [email protected] Thanks, hope to hear from you soon.

Jerry McCann (7yrs ago) - Unfortunately, Prentiss passed away some months ago

Michael Consalvi - Did you know my dad? Robert Consalvi?

Ken Campbell - Jerry, Sorry about the three year delay in emailing you. Stay in touch at my regular email. [email protected]. I see the that Paul "Frenchie" DesMarteaux is now post here too. I fired off an email just to see if he responds. I need to keep checking this site. I just missed the Florida reunion by a week. I drove down from N.C. to help clear a few trees off his property and could have drove over to the reunion.....my bad! Stay in touch, Ken

Dale Brown (8yrs ago) - We certainly would be able to help get him there. We have set aside a scholarship fund for just that situation. We are still negotiating Vegas and we might go to a different location before it’s finalized. So, we’ll be able to help him no matter where we land. Should have more info before this month is done. & We have made the decision to host the next reunion in Tucson AZ. The dates we are looking at are Sept. 26-28,2019. The offer to help Dixon is still the same. We’ll help in any way needed.
